What Is a Mink Fabric Strip Bed — and Why Is the Antonia One of the Best?

A strip bed is defined by its clean horizontal or vertical panel lines across the headboard, creating a structured, contemporary look that works beautifully in both modern builds and traditional period homes across UK, Sunderland, Gateshead, and the wider North East. Unlike bulky sleigh beds or plain divan frames, a strip bed brings architectural character to a bedroom without overwhelming the space.

The Antonia takes that design language and elevates it with an exceptional choice of premium upholstery fabrics that most local competitors simply cannot match.

Nine Fabrics. Dozens of Colours. One Bed Built for Homes.

Where stores like Bed SOS offer standard options and Dreams offers in-store browsing with limited customization, the Antonia gives you nine distinct fabric families to choose from:

• Crushed Velvet — rich, light-catching, available in Black, Gold, Silver, Pink, Red, Champagne, Grey, Cream, Blue, Lilac, and more
• Plush Velvet — a softer, matte luxury finish in 14 shades including Teal, Sky, Mustard Gold, Steel, and Pebble
• Boucle Teddy — the trending textured fabric of 2025, available in Cream and Stone
• Chenille — warm and tactile, in Black, Charcoal, Cream, Mink, and Silver
• Coniston Fabric — a heritage-inspired weave in 8 earthy tones including Gold, Almond, and Sage Green
• Linen — 12 sophisticated shades from Midnight to Whisper, perfect for Scandi and neutral interiors
• Naples Fabric — a structured, contemporary fabric available in 9 colours
• Arizona Fabric — a resilient, easy-clean option in Black, Choc, and Grey
• Faux Leather — timeless durability in Black, Blue, Brown, Pink, and White

This is not a catalogue of colours on a generic frame. Every combination is tailored to the Antonia’s strip-panel design, so what you see in your head is what arrives at your door — ready to transform a master bedroom in Durham City, a guest room in Chester-le-Street, or a new-build in Newton Aycliffe.

Every Size. Every Base. Every Bedroom.

The Antonia Strip Bed is available in five UK standard sizes:

And it doesn’t stop at the frame. Unlike most strip beds sold online in the UK, the Antonia lets you configure the entire sleep system in one order:

• Storage Base Options: Standard base with slats, Gas Lift Storage, or Divan Ottoman End-Lift
• Headboard Height: Add +10cm, +20cm, +30cm, or +40cm to create a statement headboard that fills the wall
• Foot Stool: Available in Standard, King Size, and Super King — perfectly upholstered to match your chosen fabric
• Ottoman Box: Standalone storage box available in all sizes for extra bedroom organisation
• Mattress: Choose from 1000, 2000, or 3000 Pocket Spring options, Pillow Top upgrades, Spring Memory Foam, or skip it if you already have one

Competitors like The Bedroom Shop make you wait 1 to 5 weeks with uncertain availability. Here, you know exactly what you’re ordering and exactly what’s included.

Professional Assembly at Your Door — No Stress, No Flatpack Frustration

One of the biggest pain points for Durham customers buying beds online is receiving a heavy flatpack with a 40-page manual and no help. With the Antonia Strip Bed, you can add professional home assembly at checkout. Our team will arrive, clear a path, build your bed in the room of your choice, and leave you with a finished bedroom — not a pile of parts.

This is a level of service that chains like Dreams reserve for high-end purchases. At Stupor Beds & Mattresses, it’s available from just £20 extra.

Frequently Asked Questions — Mink Fabric Strip Bed

What is a strip bed? A strip bed is an upholstered bed frame featuring a structured panel or strip design across the headboard — sometimes the footboard too. It delivers a clean, contemporary aesthetic that suits modern interiors across the North East.

How long does delivery take to Durham? We deliver the Antonia Strip Bed across County Durham, Sunderland, Gateshead, Newcastle, and the wider North East. Delivery times are confirmed at checkout based on your configuration.

Can I choose my own fabric and colour? Yes — entirely. You select the fabric family and the specific colour when adding to cart. With over 60 colour options across 9 fabric types, the Antonia is one of the most customizable strip beds available online in the UK.

Does the Antonia include a mattress? The mattress is optional. You can add a 1000, 2000, or 3000 Pocket Spring mattress, a Pillow Top version, or a Spring Memory Foam option — or choose “No Mattress Required” if you already own one.

Is the storage base worth it? If you’re short on bedroom storage — which is common in Durham’s older terraced and semi-detached homes — the Gas Lift or Ottoman base can store duvets, seasonal bedding, and pillows out of sight. It’s one of the smartest upgrades you can make.

Can this bed be assembled by the delivery team? Yes. Simply select the assembly option at checkout. Our team will build the bed in the room of your choice with no additional booking process needed.
